The Gambia Armed Forces has dismissed ten soldiers convicted for fraud and extortion at a court-martial hearing. 

According to GAF the soldiers were sacked on Monday following a review after their conviction.

The soldiers, who are from the army and navy, were arrested last year by the police Anti-Crime Unit for fraud and extortion rackets. 

The sacked soldiers were named as Private Masanneh Jammeh, Private Ali Tamba, Private Benjamin Badjie, Private Musa Bah, Private Alonso Bojang, Able Seaman Kebba Jatta, Ordinary Seaman Demba Jobarteh, Ordinary Seaman Salifu TK Camara, Ordinary Seaman Lamin Trawally and Ordinary Seaman Abdoulie Chaw.

GAF spokesman has been contacted for comment.
