A Gambia-based Lebanese business tycoon was killed in Tuesday’s explosion in Beirut, Gambiana has learned. 

George S. Madi was the chairman and managing director of Shyben Madi company. He was also Japan’s honourary consul to The Gambia. He was 77.

The Lebanese capital Beirut was rocked by a huge explosions after a fire broke out at a port depot.

The blast sent shock waves across the city destroying buildings and killing at least 137 people.
