The Gambia U-20 have beaten France U-20 to reach round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Hurricane Adama Bojang gave the Young Scorpions the lead in the 13th minutes of play after France’s defender, Tanguy Banhie Zoukrou, mistakenly diverted The Gambian forward shot into his own net.

The Young Scorpions could have added another goal after Bakary Jawara was brought down in box but captain Alagie Saine penalty was saved by the French goalkeeper.

France’s Les Bluets levelled the score after half time through Wilson Odobert header.

But the Young Scorpions were quick to silence France fans when substitute Mamin Sanyang drilled the ball underneath the goalkeeper to the bottom corner in 68 minutes.

Gambia will now face South Korea in their next game as they top their Group F with 6 points 4 goals.
