The Gambia have dropped 14 places in the Fifa world rankings after an early AFCON exit.

The Scorpions moved from 126 to 130 places globally and massively dropped from 39 to 53 in Africa.

Gambian football fans and pundits have described the new ranking as a cause for concern.

Meanwhile, AFCON winners Ivory Coast have climbed 10 places in the Fifa world rankings, while runners-up Nigeria have moved up 14 spots.

Morocco remain Africa’s top-ranked team, moving up a place to 12th despite losing in the last 16, and Senegal are 17th after bowing out at the same stage against the hosts.
