The Gambia girls’ team began their campaign at the CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Youth Development Cup 2025 in Banjul with a hard-fought win over the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The duo of Hoja Njie and Mariama Njie set the tone with a narrow 21-19 victory in the opening set.

The Congolese side, however, roared back to level the match, taking the second set convincingly 21-12.

With the home crowd behind them, Hoja and Mariama dug deep to clinch the decisive third set 15-12, sealing an impressive opening-day triumph for The Gambia.
