The Gambia government has condemned the killing of Kebba Secka, a student of the University of Gambia, describing it as “cowardly, heinous and unacceptable”.
Kebba Secka was allegedly stabbed to death during a scuffle with police officer, Lamin Trawally, on July 9 at Kololi.
The alleged accused, Lamin Trawally, has been charged with murder and is awaiting a trial.
A press release from the Office of the Government Spokesman’s stated that the government expressed grief and extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, students and the authority of the University.
“The government assures the public especially students that the dark era of politically motivated arrest and murders of students in cold blood is over and therefore unaccepted.”
It added that the government will prosecute those involved in the death of Kebba Secka.
The deceased Kebba Secka was a 25-year-old student of the University of the Gambia.
