The Government of The Gambia has allocated land in Lamin CDC for the construction of a proposed new national stadium, in what officials described as a major step for sports development.
Presiding over the handing-over, Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Bakary Y. Badjie, said “This allocation is in line with the National Sports Policy objective in sports infrastructure development, thus reaffirming government commitment to providing sporting facilities for the young people of this country.”

Minister of Lands, Hon. Hamat N.K. Bah, said the decision came after careful dialogue with the community.
“This process has not been easy, but through dialogue and cooperation, we were able to reach a solution that benefits both the government and the Lamin community,” he noted.
On behalf of the Lamin community, VDC Chairman Jammeh E.K. Bojang welcomed the move. “We assure you that this land will be used for its intended purpose to promote sports and other youth-centered activities.”
