The Gambia government has terminated its content promotion contract with Sparkling Multimedia Agency due to the agency’s failure to provide quality content to promote the state’s ongoing projects.
In 2024, the government contracted seven Gambian media houses to give promotions to its ongoing projects at a tune of D4million for one-year. The media houses are The Fatu Network, Star TV, QTV, Paradise TV while Sparkling Multimedia and Fandema are the content providers. Each media was allocated for D5 million under the contract.
However, the government’s review of the contract revealed that Sparkling Multimedia Agency’s contents did not meet the required standard for media houses.
The Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services said in a statement: “as part of the contractual agreement, the deliveries made by Sparkling Multimedia Agency and all other media contactors were reviewed before approval of the second payment request.
“During of that performance review, it became known that none of Sparkling Multimedia Agency deliverables was good enough for media houses to broadcast. Subsequently, a legal opinion was solicited from the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General Chamber on the way forward and advice received was terminated by the said contract.”
