Surgeons at the Gambia’s main referral hospital have conducted the country’s first knee replacement surgery.

The team led by Dr. Kebba Marenah, a UK trained orthopaedic and trauma surgeon, made history after successfully completing the operation at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital on Sunday.

Officials of the Ministry of Health have praised the surgeons for the “epic achievements”.
