
Gambian duo Mario Dampha and Ensa Kanyi pulled off a spirited comeback to defeat Rwanda 2-1 in a thrilling men’s B team volleyball clash.
After narrowly losing the opening set 22-20, the Gambians regrouped with renewed focus, taking the second set 21-17 before dominating the decider 15-10 to seal the victory.
Rwanda started on the front foot, capitalising on early momentum to edge the first set. But Dampha and Kanyi showed composure under pressure, turning the tide in the second before surging to a confident finish in the final set.
The hard-fought win is a morale boost for the Gambia B Team and underscores the potential of its rising stars as the tournament progresses.
Gambia will look to maintain their form in upcoming fixtures.
