The Gambia Navy has intercepted and arrested three vessels for engaging in illegal fishing activities within The Gambia’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The arrests were made during a routine Surveillance and Fisheries Protection Patrol aimed at enforcing national maritime laws and safeguarding marine resources.
The vessels —FV MAJILAC, FV LORD, and FV ELSATERMEN ALLAH —were detained for multiple violations under the Fisheries Act and Gambia Maritime Administration regulations, including fishing without authorisation, the use of illegal gear, and operating without valid safety certificates.

The operation underscores the Gambia Navy’s continued commitment to protecting the country’s territorial waters and ensuring compliance with maritime laws.
