
The Gambia Police Force is mourning the loss of one of its long-serving and most respected retired officers, Chief Superintendent (Rtd) Mbye Jobe, who passed away on the night of Friday, July 19, 2025.
Jobe, the former Band Master of the Gambia Police Force Band Unit, was widely admired for his dedication, leadership, and musical talent. Throughout his distinguished career, he led the Police Band with discipline and artistic excellence, fostering a strong sense of national pride and unity through music.
Known for his mentorship and unwavering commitment to service, CSP Jobe was a revered figure both within the force and in the wider community. He inspired generations of officers and civilians, earning a legacy that extends far beyond his years of active duty.
He will be laid to rest today, Saturday, July 20, with Fidaw prayers scheduled at 4:00 PM at Pipeline Mosque, followed by interment at 5:00 PM.
In a statement, the Gambia Police Force extended its deepest condolences to Jobe’s family, former colleagues, and all who had the honour of knowing him.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement read.
