The Gambia Ports Authority thrashed Medina United 3-0 in the top-of-the-table clash to sail into the summit of the Gambia Football Federation Division Two table standings with three points clear at the top.

The Gambia Port Authority’s in-form playmaker Omar Johm was the main protagonist of the Ferry Boys’ victory with a brace in their 3-0 annihilating triumph over fellow promotion hopeful side Medina United.

Batch Samba Ceesay, the assistant coach of the Gambia Ports Authority, revealed that his side’s ambition is to book promotion to the top flight of the Gambian league.

“That has been our objective from day one this season. GPA is a club with a strong history in Gambian football, and being in the second division for this long is not where we belong. We’ve built a solid squad, and the boys are responding well. It’s a long season, but we believe this is the year to make that return,” Batch Samba said.

Batch Samba Ceesay told our sports editor that the key to the Ferry Boys’ remarkable season so far is down to the commitment of the coaches and the players’ desire to secure a promotion to the Gambia Football Federation Division One League.

“The team has shown great discipline and consistency. Our training sessions are intense, and we focus a lot on teamwork, pressing, and quick transitions. The players understand what’s at stake, and their mentality has been key. The hunger to win is there, and that’s driving our performances.“
