Sweden-based iconic Gambian reggae artist Demba Conta has died.
The late singer passed away today in Sweden. He is survived by a wife and several children.
The iconic singer was born in the 50s in Yonna village in Sami District, Central River Region, before he emerged in the music scene in the 70s.
Conta was known for his melodious voice and stand for justice especially liberation of the black race.
He had produced several albums including his hit ‘Monkey Business’, United States of Africa, and Rule the World.
Scores of Gambians took to social media to pay their tribute to the late artist.
