The Scorpions will start their African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign today against South Sudan at Stade Lat Dior in Senegal.

Gambia and South Sudan are in Group G alongside Mali and Congo.

This is a crucial match for the Scorpions as they seek to secure their place in next year’s AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.

The team will hope to repeat their superb AFCON debut in Cameroon this year where they reach the quarterfinals.

Last week, Gambia played out a hard-fought draw against the United Arab Emirates in Sunday’s meeting at the Zabeel Stadium in Dubai.

Tom Saintfiet’s men will be favourite to win the match against the Bright Stars, one of the lowest ranked teams in Africa.
