The Gambia will on Tuesday March 2 receive its first batch of coronavirus vaccine doses from Senegal.

“The COVID-19 Vaccine will arrive tomorrow Tuesday at 9 PM. The handing [over] of 20,000 doses will be held at the [Banjul International] Airport. Minister Samateh and other health officers will grace the event,” a Ministry of Health officials said.

Last month, Senegalese President Macky Sall said his country will give The Gambia 20,000 doses of the Chinese Shinopharm vaccine out of its 200,000 doses.

The 20,000 doses will be used to vaccinate frontline health workers.
