The Gambia’s U-17 Scorplings presented their WAFU-A trophy to President Adama Barrow at the Independence Stadium on Friday following the Scorpions’ 2-1 victory over Somalia in their opening PAMOJA 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The young champions received a warm reception from the home crowd after displaying their trophy, medals and individual awards to supporters at the stadium.

The Scorplings also cheered on the senior national team from the stands throughout the match, adding to the atmosphere with chants and songs.

The U-17 side recently made history by winning The Gambia’s first-ever WAFU-A CAF U-17 AFCON title.

The Scorplings defeated hosts Senegal 5-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time to lift the trophy, finishing the tournament unbeaten.
