The Gambia U-17 team is looking to secure a positive result in their upcoming showdown with Somalia U-17 following their loss to the defending champions Senegal.

The Baby Scorpions conceded a lone goal in a thrilling U-17 Africa Cup of Nations opener against their neighbours, Senegal.

Despite a spectacular performance by the young Scorpions, they couldn’t convert their chances. Senegal’s young Teranga Lions capitalised on the mistakes of their Gambian counterparts to score.

Following the disappointing result, Gambian coach Yaya Manneh praised his players’ performances while assuring a stronger comeback in their upcoming matches.

“We just have to stay positive because we have two more matches to go. We need to prepare much better to face Somalia,” he said in his post-match interview with reporters.
