The Gambia U-20 football team have beaten Liberia’s U-20 team in a friendly match at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Stadium in Monrovia, Liberia.

The win served as a hope for the country’s youth team who are gearing up for WAFU Zone A championship. The Young Scorpions are drawn with Senegal and Mali on the same group.

In his post-match interview, head coach Abdoulie Bojang said:”it was a very good game. We were trying to see what we needed to improve on before the start of the competition, and I’m very much satisfied with the performance of the boys.”

He said that despite the win, the Young Scorpions need to improve on finishing by capitalising on their chances, adding “we had chances in the first half to kill off the game”.
