Alagie Saine, captain of Gambia U-20 team, has described his call up to the national senior team as a moment of “happiness” for him.

The no-nonsense defender has just signed a four-year deal with a Danish football club after six-month loan from Falcons FC.

Saine has shown respectable performances for The Gambia after captaining the U-20 national team in both the Africa Nations Cup and World Cup respectively.

He earned his first call to the senior national team ahead of crucial encounter with South Sudan on June 14 in Egypt for the Afcon qualifiers.

But despite the late call to the squad, Alagie Saine said it’s always a pride and joy for him to represent The Gambia in football.

“I’m so happy to be called up to the senior team. I like to play for my country. I’m proud to be here,” he told The Gambia Football Federation Media Team in an interview in Egypt.
