Several Gambian journalists will testify before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission on Monday July 8 as the Commission begins its institutional hearing on the media.

A press release from the TRRC Secretariat stated that:

“This week the TRRC will hold its first institutional hearing on the media. Throughout the week, individual witnesses and a representative of the Gambia Press Union will appear before the Commission to testify on the scope and extent of the suppression of the media and the freedom of the press, and violations of the human rights and freedoms of individual journalists.

“Other institutional hearings on certain public institutions are part of the Commission’s work plan for 2019.”

Meanwhile, the Commission said that other institutional hearings on certain public Institutions are part of its plan for the year.
