Fatou Cham, the National Assembly Member for Sanimentereng Constituency, has vowed to fight for the rights of Salaji property owners whose homes were demolished by the government.
The demolition, which has left dozens of families homeless, has been widely condemned by Gambians as “reckless and wicked”.
In a show of solidarity, Ms. Cham visited the affected families on Saturday. She condemned the demolition and pledged to continue fighting for the welfare and rights of her constituents.

“You people entrusted me with this position by voting for me. For this reason, I should not sit back and watch your rights being violated.
“I will always champion your welfare and rights, and I will not sit idly by while you suffer,” she assured the affected families.
