A 28-year-old Gambian returnee has allegedly killed himself in his room in Busumbala town.

Abdourahman Sillah is known to be among Gambians who were repartriated from war torn Libya.

A family source who spoke to Gambiana said the deceased suffered a mental illness since he was returned from Libya as he was among hundreds of Africans trying to cross the perilous Mediterranean Sea to Europe for greener pasture.

“We did everything to cure him but to no avail. Just few days ago he was in Casamance for his health. Unfortunately, during lunch time today, he was found dead hanging from a rope in his bedroom,”one of his brothers told Gambiana.

According to him, the deceased has spent seven years in Libya, adding “he came recently with a mental problem, his brother.”

Police could not be reached for comment after several attempts by Gambiana.
