A Gambian man has been allegedly stabbed to death in the Italian city of Bergamo on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Mamadi Tunkara.

Italian Police have arrested a Togolese migrant over Tunkara’s death. The suspect was arrested while attempting to flee into Switzerland.

Ebrima Drammeh, Germany-based Gambian migrant activist, told Gambianathat the suspect is said to be “homeless”. 

“He (Mamadi Tunkara) was on his way to work at a supermarket on his bike when the suspect attacked him and fatally stabbed him  to death,” he said.
