A Gambian migrant, Musa Ginka, in Tunisia has died of a protracted illness.

The deceased died on Wednesday morning whilst arrangements were being made to fly him back to The Gambia.

“He died this morning. He was sick and should have been flown to the Gambia this morning but he didn’t make it,” Ebrima Drammeh, Italy-based Gambian migrants rights activist told Gambiana

Gambian migrants and other African nationals continue to face humanitarian challenges in Tunisia since a xenophobic statement was made by Tunisian President.

This has resulted in Tunisian Police and citizens attacking transiting migrants heading to Europe.
