
Gambian police have detained one of the suspected armed robbers who attacked a Mauritanian shop in Ballanghar Kerr Ndery last night.
The man, identified as Amadou Bah, a Senegalese national from Sarreh Wurry,
was apprehended by villagers at a groundnut store where he sought refugee after he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

A bag containing D29,910 and 93,000 CFA was recovered from him.
A video shared with Gambiana shows the suspect seated and circled by villagers. He could be heard explaining how the robbery was carried out and what led to the gunshot wound to his leg.

He admitted being part of the armed robbery along with three other fugitives, all of whom are Senegalese nationals.

Bah claimed the rifle (hunting gun) used during the robbery, along with three live bullets, belonged to one of his accomplices, Yerro Sheikh Sowe, who was shot dead during the robbery
The rifle is yet to be recovered, and efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining suspects.
Gambian police have confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the robbery.
