The Gambia Police Force has warned motorists against illegal vehicle modifications, including the use of extra or decorative lights, which violate the country’s Motor Traffic Regulations.

From 15 July, officers will begin enforcing the rules more strictly, with offenders facing penalties.

Authorities say the crackdown aims to improve road safety as the rainy season begins, urging drivers to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy by replacing worn tyres and maintaining functional windscreen wipers.

Police have called on all drivers to comply with safety regulations to help reduce accidents on Gambian roads.
