Lamin N. Jammeh, an officer in The Gambia Police Force, is among sixteen selected referees and assistant referees to officiate the AFCON U-20 championship in Egypt.

The championship is scheduled to begin on Sunday 19 February 2023.

Jammeh told Gambiana that he will do his best to represent The Gambia at the tournament. 

“I need all the support and prayers from  Gambians to achieve his dreams,” he said. 

Meanwhile, head of Refereeing Department at CAF, Désiré Noumandiez Doué, said in a statement that: “we are fully committed to changing the image of refereeing on the continent and for that we are banking on the youth. In this group we have the future of Africa.”
