Human rights activist and political commentator, Madi Jobarteh, on Tuesday recovered from coronavirus after being in self-isolation for weeks at his home.

The rights advocate last month contracted the virus but said despite testing positive for Covid-19 he had no symptom of the disease.

“I am Covid Free! Alhamdulilah. Text from Ministry of Health: “Your Covid-19 test performed in Wester 1 is Negative”. Thank you all for the prayers, best wishes & guidance! The task of nation building continues unabated! Forward…,” he said on his social media page.

Mr Jobarteh is seen as a staunch critic of the government, as well as one of the country’s leading human rights activists.
