Gambian striker Mustapha Jah made a dream start to the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign by finding the back of the net in Floriana’s impressive 2-0 victory over Shamrock Rovers of Ireland in the first leg of the first qualifying round.

Mustapha Jah’s goal helped the Maltese champions secure a valuable first-leg advantage ahead of the return fixture.

Elsewhere, fellow Gambian international Nfansu Njie featured for 85 minutes as Hungarian side Győri ETO suffered a narrow 1-0 away defeat to Víkingur Reykjavík of Iceland in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie.

Meanwhile, Gambian forward Muhammed Badamosi was also in action, playing 86 minutes for Latvian champions Riga FC, who fell to a 2-0 away defeat against Ararat-Armenia in the opening leg of their first qualifying round encounter.

The three Gambian internationals will now shift their focus to the return legs as they aim to help their respective clubs progress to the next stage of Europe’s premier club competition.
