A Gambian woman has died following a suspected brutal assault at a home in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The victim, identified as Ndata Secka, was found seriously injured when officers rushed to the scene after an alarm was raised.

She was taken to hospital under blue lights but died shortly afterwards.

Police have arrested a 55-year-old man in connection with the death.

According to the Scottish Sun, officers sealed off the area and conducted door-to-door enquiries throughout the day.

Uniformed officers were seen standing guard outside a property on Restalrig Avenue while forensic teams combed the scene.

The residential street remains closed as investigations continue.

Detective Inspector Kevin Tait said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman at this extremely difficult time.”
