Gambians are among a migrant boat carrying 150 people intercepted by the Moroccan navy. 

The boat has been handed over to the Senegalese authorities by the Moroccan authorities.

Ebirma Drammeh, a Gambian migrant activist based in Italy, said the boat took off from the Senegalese town of Njawara. 

“More than 150 people has been rescued by the Moroccan navy and handed them to the Senegalese authorities yesterday evening, and they where lots of Gambian migrants in that boat,” Drammeh told Gambiana

“They’re with the Senegalese authorities in Dakar at the moment go are taking their names and nationality. We are calling on the Gambia embassy in Senegal to help these people to reunite with their family back in the Gambia,” he added.
