Gambians have been raising concerns over rise in robberies, calling for tighter security measures to put an end to such incidents.

The latest robbery victim is Borri Darboe, who was on Saturday attacked and robbed of his cell phone on his way home.

“Someone just snatched my phone in my hand on my way home,” Mr Darboe announced on his Facebook page, attracting loads of comments from family and friends.

This incident occurred just a day after police apprehended three men suspected of committing multiple robberies in Greater Banjul area including robbing a taxi driver at gunpoint along Sukuta-Jabang Highway last week.

One commenter said: “it’s becoming increasingly clear that these bandits are not only trying to steal from people, but they are also attempting to harm innocent people and take away their properties violently.”
