Gambians want perpetrators of crimes and human rights abuses during the 22-year Jammeh dictatorship be tried in court, survey finds. 

The survey by Afrobarometer found that

73% of Gambians want to see former strongman Yahya Jammeh and other perpetrators of crimes face justice. 

A growing number are in favour of extradition of Jammeh.

Six in 10 Gambians (61%) say the government should seek his extradition.

However opinions were divided on the sale of Jammeh’s properties. 

Afrobarometer is a pan-African research institution conducting public attitude surveys on democracy, governance, the economy and society in Africa.
