The Gambia stands a better chance to qualify to the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) after Mali edged Congo Brazzaville in a thrilling 2-0 victory.
The Gambia has 9 points in their group behind Mali who has 12 points.
The Scorpions will face the Congolese in their final match at home in September.
“We need 1 point in September in our home match against Congo Brazzaville to be qualified for the Africa Cup for a second time in Gambian history,” Coach Tom Saintfiet said after Mali’s win against Congo Brazzaville.

The September encounter will see Gambia’s head coach, Tom Saintfiet, facing off against former Gambian head coach, Paul Put, who now manages Congo Brazzaville.
