A 50-year-old man has tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the country’s Covid-19 coronavirus cases to 18.

According to the Ministry of Health, the  patient, who is a Senegalese, was one of those mass tested for coronavirus in Bakau last week.

The Health ministry’s acting director, Dr Mustapha Bittaye, told journalists at a press briefing “Both the newly confirmed and the probable test results are results of samples collected from the mass screening held in Bakau.”

Dr Bittaye said the probable case is linked to the 12case, adding “the epidemiological link of the new case to any of the previous confirmed cases is yet to be established.”

The ministry also revealed that the test results of 192 people, of the total 194 who were mass tested, were negative.
