A Kanifing based gas bottling factory was destroyed by a large fire on Sunday night.
The destruction at Hadim Gas Bottling is extensive including vehicles that were parked at the factory forecourt.
The fire was said to have happened late at night. Residents reportedly heard loud explosions and saw plumes of smoke coming from the building.
There was no report of any casualties. The fire services have been praised for their bravery in putting out the devastating fire.
Meanwhile President Adama Barrow led a cabinet delegation to the site yesterday to see first hand the level of damage and express sympathy with all those affected by the fire. They all wore face masks due to toxic chemicals that were released by the fire.
The president promised to launch a government inquiry to investigate the cause of the fire and review the existing fire safety measures to prevent a recurrence in the future.
