Gaye Njorro Skills Academy has confirmed that 22-year-old Amie Jobe, who tragically died in a car accident in Kotu earlier today, was a hairdressing student at the institution. Two other students injured in the incident remain hospitalised.

In a statement released this afternoon, the academy described Amie as a “dedicated student full of promise and passion for her craft.”

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our beloved students, Amie Jobe, due to a tragic car accident,” the statement read. “Her bright spirit, kind heart, and commitment to her growth deeply touched all who knew her.”

The accident occurred near Apple Tree School when a vehicle driven by Amat Ndow reportedly lost control after a front wheel dislodged, striking three pedestrians. Amie died at the scene, while the other two were rushed to hospital.

The academy confirmed the injured victims are also enrolled students and asked the public to keep them in their prayers.
