Music promoter Lamarana Barry, widely known as “General Barry,” has appeared before the Bundung Magistrates Court charged with causing death by negligence.

The case relates to the death of Tairu Barry, who prosecutors said fell from Mr Barry’s motorbike and later died at Bundung Maternity and Children’s Hospital.

Mr Barry faces a single count of rash or negligent act causing death, contrary to Section 189 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025.

He pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.

Defence counsel applied for bail, arguing that Mr Barry should be released while awaiting trial.

The prosecution opposed the application, citing the seriousness of the offence.

Principal Magistrate Dawda Fatty adjourned the matter until 6 October 2025, when the court is expected to rule on the bail application and continue hearing the testimony of the first prosecution witness.
