The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has penalised Latrikunda United FC, in the League Division Two, with a three point deduction for playing an ineligible player.

“The GFF Organising Committee has forfeited three points and two goals from Latrikunda United FC and awarded to Wagadu FC, following the latter’s protest against player Abdou Savage,” it said.

According to GFF, after a thorough review of the relevant correspondence between the two clubs concluded that “Abdou Savage is a player of Wagadu FC who went on loan to Medical FC for the 2023 season and should not have been given a transfer or clearance by a non-parent club (Gambian Dutch Lions) making him ineligible to play for Latrikunda United.

“With the above conclusion, the Organising Committee has thus awarded 3 points and 2 goals to Wagadu FC for their week 13 match against Latrikunda United FC.”
