Girls have topped the 2020 Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination as 16  of them scored aggregate 6. Only 10 boys scored the same mark.

At least 23,000 pupils took the examination this year. There was much uncertainty about the performance of the pupils who wrote their examination amid a spike in coronavirus pandemic which closed down schools for several months.

In Region One 11 schools scored aggregate 6, while two schools in Region Two scored aggregate 6, and 1 school in Region Three.
