The Government has given tax relief to livestock dealers a week before Tobaski to make livestock affordable for the populace.
It comes after the Ministry of Trade held a consultation meeting with stakeholders in the livestock sector.
The ministry announced that all taxes on livestock collected by Gambia Revenue Authority will be waived during the period.
The ferry service will offer a 50 percent reduction of fees for all livestock dealers.
“All dealers in livestock are reminded that the government undertakes these measures to facilitate the accessibility and affordability of livestock.
“Livestock dealers must therefore ensure that these positive steps are reflected in their prices,” the ministry said.
The councils in Banjul, Kanifing and Brikama have all waived fees and taxes for livestock dealers during the Tobaski period.
