At least 46 stranded Gambian migrants in Tunisia will be evacuated back to the country.

Speaking at a news conference today (25 July), Gambia government official Abdoulie Bah said said the evacuation plan comes after Gambian migrants faced xenophobic attack in Tunisia. 

“I have the honour and pleasure to inform you that the IOM in Tunis has contacted the Embassy informing us that on Thursday 27th July 2023, forty six migrants will be evacuated from Tunisia via Morocco and arriving Banjul in the early morning of Friday 28 July 2023,” he said. 

“As indicated before, the details of the remaining fourteen [migrants] will be communicated as soon as we receive it from the IOM. The list of the above 46 migrants are here attached for your perusal and information,” he added.
