Gambian journalists have elected a new executive to lead the Gambia Press Union (GPU) for the next three years.
The triennial congress, held on Saturday at the NaNA Conference Hall in Bakau, saw Isatou Keita elected as the new President. She secured 27 votes, defeating her opponent, Momodou Jawo, who received 20 votes.
Keita replaces Muhammed S. Bah, who chose not to seek re-election after completing one term in office.
Sheriff Saidykhan was elected unopposed as Vice President, while Meita Touray was nominated unopposed as Treasurer.
The newly elected board members are Alieu Ceesay, Mariama Bojang, Adama Makasuba, Nelson Manneh, and Paul Steven Prierra.
This executive team will lead the GPU in its mission to advocate for the press and support the growth of journalism in The Gambia.
