The Gambia Revenue Authority has said it collected 12.8 billion dalasis in revenue in 2021.
Essa Jallow said: “the government of The Gambia through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs (MOFEA) tasked the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) to collect slightly over D12.7 billion annual revenue target for 2021.
“However, despite the numerous challenges affecting revenue collection due to the deadly coronavirus pandemic, the GRA was able to collect slightly over D12.7 billion that means in percentage terms, GRA achieved 100% its annual revenue target for 2021.”
According to Mr Jallow, GRA also achieved its 2020 revenue target which was set at D10 billion, adding that they eventually collected over 11 billion which “was a very good performance.”
He said GRA has been performing relatively well in revenue performance over the years due to collective commitment from taxpayers and GRA staff and management.
He added that the GRA cannot do it alone
and commended the taxpayers for their commitment to national development.
Mr Jallow disclosed that GRA is planning to host a taxpayer’s award “to return gratitude to the most tax compliant companies.”
