The Gambia Revenue Authority has revealed collecting a whopping 5.2 billion dalasis in tax revenues from January to March of 2024, as the institution aims to collect a colossal 19.2 billion dalasis at the end of the year.

Speaking to reporters at a news conference held at GRA’s headquarters in Banjul, Commissioner General, Yankuba Darboe, described the collection as the highest so far in the history of the revenue authority.

“From end of January we were able to collect D1.7 billion, and at the end February we were able to collect over D1.4 billion. Now the highest amount of collection ever in the history of GRA comes at the end of March, we were able to collect over D2 billion. This is the biggest collection in the history of GRA. And from January to the end of March the total collection was over D5.2 billion,” he said.

According to him, his office has been tasked by the government to collect 19.2 billion dalasi for the year of 2024.

He added: “Of course this was a very difficult task for us, but we believe that we can do it and we’ve taken up the responsibility.”
