A Wuli-based livestock association has threatened legal action against an alleged cattle rustler.
The group members accused Amadou Gagigo of “stealing“ their cattle.
They expressed their grievances at a press conference today, and called on the authorities to arrest and prosecute the alleged cattle rustler.
Saibeh Nasso, a member of the association, told journalists “we will go to court to show our concerns about how Amadou steals our livestock with impunity. “We should all come out on that day to show our concern and hand the petition.”.
Another member, Mariama Singhateh, said the cattle rustlers have now made them scared to raise animals, adding “these have affected the women a lot who are engaged in animal husbandry.” She blamed the region’s police for not doing enough to curb the stealing of livestock and other illegal activities, adding that they have been reporting the matter to the authorities but to no avail.  The group members are however advised not to take the law into their own hands and urged to be law abiding as their seek redress.
Mr. Gagigo, the alleged cattle rustler, could not be reached for comment.
