At least one person has been confirmed dead and several others sustained injuries in a land dispute between residents of Gunjur and Berending villages in the Kombo South.

The violent clash on Saturday has left one Buba Jammeh, a resident of Gunjur, dead and scores of people injured. An eyewitness who preferred not to be named told Gambiana that Buba Jammeh, commonly known as Tong Mailo, was shot to death. He alleged that Jammeh was shot with a local hunting gun.

Riot police were deployed to the villages to keep the peace. Some of the youths involved in the clash have been arrested and are helping the police with their investigation.
