Halifa Sallah, leader of People Democratic Organisation and Independent for Socialism, has said there is no evidence to show that the December presidential election was rigged.
The veteran politician emerged fourth out of the six presidential candidates after securing 32,435 votes.
Speaking at a news conference this evening (5 December) at PDOIS headquarters in Churchill’s Town, Sallah said: “I wish to note, we have consulted our polling agents and we do not have any substantial evidence that we can present before the Supreme Court to challenge the validity of the results of Presidential election.
“So in that regard, as a coalition, we cannot say in anyway that…we are going to present anything before the Supreme Court to challenge the IEC on the Election.”
The presidential election has been deemed free and fair by many including the AU Election Observer team.
Most of The Gambia’s political leaders with the exception of UDP’s Ousainou Darboe and GDC Mama Kandeh have conceded defeat.
Meanwhile the PDOIS leader said he won’t contest the presidential election again and will retire from frontline politics.
He said his doors are open to president -elect Adama Barrow if he so wish to make use of PDOIS development blueprint and his advice to transform The Gambia and uplift the lives of Gambian people.
