Gambia’s Health minister Dr Ahmadou Samateh has tested negative for coronavirus after more than a week in self-isolation.
Dr Samateh voluntarily chosed to be quarantined after three of his close work staff tested positive for the virus.
“It is gratifying to report that the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, has checked out of his quarantine facility moments ago after his second Covid-19 test results turned NEGATIVE,” the government said in a statement on Saturday.
“He retested Wednesday and his results came in last night as Covid-19 NEGATIVE.”
“Dr. Samateh now returns to work and wishes to remind Gambians and all residents to accept the seriousness of the COVID-19 virus,” it added.
